Costco has been a shopping staple for 40 years, with over 800 locations worldwide. Regular shoppers and employees often use their unique lingo to describe different aspects of the warehouse experience. Whether you're a newcomer or a seasoned Costco member, understanding these slang terms will help you navigate the aisles like a pro!

1. The Treasure Hunt

One of the biggest appeals of shopping at Costco is "The Treasure Hunt." This term describes the thrill of discovering unexpected deals and limited-time products while browsing the massive warehouse. Since inventory frequently changes, members never know what they might find on any trip. It's one of the reasons why so many people love wandering the aisles!

2. The Death Star (★)

If you see a small asterisk in the upper-right corner of a Costco price tag, you've spotted "The Death Star." This symbol means the item is discontinued or won’t be restocked. If you love a product and see the asterisk, it’s time to stock up before it’s gone for good!

3. Code 1

Costco employees use "Code 1" as an internal term to indicate when assistance is needed, usually at the front end or registers. So if you hear an announcement for "Code 1," it typically means an employee requires backup for a busy checkout line or another customer-related issue.

4. The Roadshow

Ever notice those temporary vendor booths featuring high-end cookware, massage chairs, or gourmet foods? These are part of "The Roadshow." Unlike Costco’s regular inventory, roadshow vendors set up shop inside the warehouse for a limited time, allowing members to test out specialty products before purchasing. Costco Roadshows

5. The $1.50 Hot Dog

Costco’s food court is famous for its ridiculously affordable prices, and "The $1.50 Hot Dog" is its crown jewel. Despite inflation, this legendary combo of a jumbo hot dog and soda has remained at the same low price since 1985—making it a symbol of Costco’s commitment to value.

6. The MVM (Most Valuable Member)

An unofficial but widely recognized term, "MVM" refers to Costco’s most loyal shoppers. These members know the best times to shop, buy in bulk, and take full advantage of deals, gas stations, and membership perks. If you’re an MVM, you likely have a strategy for every Costco visit!

Your next Costco run will feel more like an adventure since you know these insider slang terms. Whether you're on a treasure hunt for new finds or savoring a $1.50 hot dog, being in the know makes the shopping experience even more enjoyable. Happy shopping, and may your cart always be full of great deals!

This page is pretty chill to browse—nothing feels cluttered or like it’s trying to distract you. I like that the text is broken up enough that you can skim and still catch the main idea without rereading. I ended up opening Drift Boss in the middle of scrolling, and it loads you straight into the drifting without making you jump through hoops. The whole one-button control thing is explained in a way that actually makes sense at a glance, which I appreciate. Also nice that it doesn’t shove a bunch of stuff in your face while you’re trying to figure out how the game works. The headings are easy to spot, and the “How to Play” info sits in a…
